Reading Essentials from a Naturopath

I love books. I especially love books written by scientists, health professionals and journalists! This is a list of books that have really changed my perspective and have helped to form the way I practice.

The China Study - T. Colin Campbell & Thomas M. Campbell

This book was a real turning point for me on the topic of dairy.

A Mind of Your Own - Dr. Kelly Brogan

Essential reading if you are dealing with hypothyroidism and/or depression. Perspective changing on a lot of important topics, thoroughly referenced with scientific research.

The Post-Natal Depletion Cure - Dr Oscar Serrellach

I’m not a mum but I really liked the philosophy in this book around supporting mums after birth. The book challenges the current ideas around post natal depression and gives positive and actionable advice for restoring vitality in depleted mums!

How to Change Your Mind - Michael Pollan

I couldn’t put this book down. Super engaging and covers the history, politics, traditional and scientific evidence surrounding psychedelics. Pollan unpicks the controversy and shares the evidence for these vilified plants in the context of healing anxiety, PTSD, depression and addiction.

Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm - Stephen Harrod Buhner

This book is a big one and I found it super time consuming to read. In truth, I haven’t finished it, having stopped and started a LOT. But it is essential for those wanting to deepen (or initiate) their relationship with nature and the plant world.

Keep an eye on this post though because I will no doubt be adding more books over time!
