Glow Up with Tremella Mushroom

Whether you’re worried about your skin from years of sun-baking or just want a glowing complexion (is that too much to ask!?) my friend Tremella has your back.

“Is Tremella your new beauty therapist or something?” I hear you ask.

Well, yes!

Women have turned to her for thousands of years in their quest for dewy, youthful skin. You may have guessed by now that Tremella is not a human woman, nor a three thousand-year-old witch that drinks boy tears in exchange for her powers.

Tremella fuciformis is the beauty queen from the kingdom of fungi and she’s a slice of vanilla flavoured heaven.

Tremella mushrooms are rich in polysaccharides which provide antioxidant protection for the skin. These antioxidants reduce damage to the structure of the skin from overexposure to UV rays(1). This occurs due to Tremella’s ability to retain collagen density and hydration of the skin(1)! Collagen is the main protein responsible for skin firmness and elasticity, however it is also required for healthy joints and tendons. Maintaining hydration for glowing skin is a no brainer – we need to be hydrated properly for plump and healthy skin cells to thrive.

There is also evidence that Tremella can accelerate wound healing in the skin, which is a valuable tool in the treatment of any skin condition(2).

In skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, pressure sores or surgical wounds, the vital barrier function of the skin is compromised.

It’s a top priority to restore this barrier function so that the skin can do its job and keep the body separate from the outside world.

The skin is our largest organ and unfortunately in this modern life, we are exposed to a cacophony of environmental toxins on the daily. From air pollution, skin care, cosmetics, to UV radiation and diet, there’s constant extra stress on our skin. These toxins contribute to the production of free radicals, which ultimately become a factor in aging skin and inflammation.

Including half a teaspoon of dried Tremella in your smoothies and hot drinks is one delicious way to get those skin-loving antioxidants into your daily regime. You can purchase my preferred Tremella powder here. Your skin will thank me!
